August 1, 2018

District 6 of the US Power Squadrons, Americas Boating Club, held its annual Rendezvous at the Clayton Yacht Club located across the bay from the Clayton Antique Boat Museum. We were fortunate enough to reserve a slip at the Yacht Club. We attended with our boat on Wednesday and Thursday, and returned on Friday. We left a day early because I had volunteered to work at the Antique Boat Show on Saturday.

The 1904 Brigantine Black Jack passing the Yacht Club in the shipping channel.

You can see how close the shipping channel is to the Yacht Club. However the Yacht Club is protected by the point that extends toward the channel. We had great views of the passing ships.

On Thursday night we had a Chicken BBQ followed by Folk Singing with Melissa and Bill Sieling. Melissa sang a song that she had written about America's Boating Club.

There were lots of these consumed during the evening. I'm glad I had my boat there - no need for a designated driver.
