October 1, 2018

We left the Thousand Islands today and headed home. The boat went into heated storage in Alexandria Bay, NY for the winter.
The heated storage allows you to put the boat up without winterizing which is much easier on all of the boats systems. The marina takes the boat from our slip and puts it into storage, and will return it to our slip in the spring.
We took two days to drive home after watching the TV news reports on which roads were open; many roads were closed due to flooding from Hurricane Florence. We waited until October 1st  and we had no issue with the roads, and were able to go directly to our home in Sunset Beach, N.C. without detours or delays.
We were fortunate that we did not have any damage to our home. However there were homes in our neighborhood that had damage to their roofs from fallen trees and subsequent water damage from the rains. Many trees were down and in the process of being removed.

We left EASTNOR at the very end of the dock

Home with patched hole in the roof after fallen tree had been removed. The entire roof was replaced within a few days of my taking this photo.

Tree remains waiting to be picked up by the town

Fallen Tree a block away

Tree leaning across the road being held up by a wire attached to its twin trunk and leaning on another tree across the street. Look closely and you can see the wire. That is my house in the background.

More tree remains waiting to be picked up.

Wednesday, Sept 18, 2019 We got the boat squared away for winter storage and left Wellesley Island for North Carolina today.
