We finally made it to Sylvan Beach. We found a place on the free wall in Sylvan Beach. Plan to have some steamers later at the Clam Shack.
We left Utica this morning at 10 AM and arrived here at 2:30. It was very rough from all the wakes and a strong wind. We had trouble docking in the wind since I lost my Bow Thruster at lock 20 as we left the wall. A stick or piece of wood must have got caught in the props. You don't realize how much you depend upon the thruster until you don't have it. It is difficult to dock in the wind with the single engine.
Here are a few pictures from today.

Seventh graders in NY are required to learn about the Erie Canal, its construction, and its economic impact on the nation. I'm sure that this includes field trips for students living near the canal; consequently the Canal Corp sets up displays of the older tugs and canal boats. I'm sure that these tugs are on display for this purpose.

These are working tugs

A huge storm passed through upstate NY and we were on the edges of it. It is raining and we are rocking and rolling right now.

We had a great meal at the Clam Shack in Sylvan Beach. We both ordered the special consisting of a dozen steamed clams and a 12 ounce sirloin steak, potatoes and vegetables. It was great!

Jeff and Brenda Heckter, on Satori,  were successfully towed to the Brewerton Boat Yard late last night. The locks close at around 8 PM but they can remain open for commercial craft like a tow boat. They held the last two locks open to 11 PM so that they could be towed through. They tied up in Sylvan Beach and were towed across Sylvan Lake to Brewerton this morning
