It is Tuesday at 2:00 PM, and I am sitting in a restaurant having a coke and taking advantage of their WiFi. I could not connect to the Marina system even when I went up to their office. So I am three days late with my postings'
We had a great ride up the North Atlantic from Atlantic City to Atlantic Highlands tucked in behind Sandy Hook. It was an 81 nautical mile trip That took us 9 hours at 9.1 kts. we did have a following sea about half was that pushed us an extra kt. There was a 9 kt southerly wind so we didn't feel it at at all this speed until we made the turn around Sandy Hook at we were into the wind. We left Atlantic City at 6:00 AM and arrived at Atlantic Highlands at 3:00 PM
Here are a few pictures we took on the way:
When we docked at Atlantic Highlands the Marina was full, I'm glad that I made a reservation. However the slip was not very wide and had no side pier. We got in, but it was the tightest fit we have had. We needed fenders between the boats on either side of us. People actually climbed on to the boats next to us to push us off if we were going to hit the other boats; but we slid in OK. A difficult docking experience, especially with a single engine. I have a dinghy mounted on the swim platform, and I was told that there would be room to get it off, but there was no way. I could have pulled out and taken it off, but since it was such a tight fit, I decided to stay put and climb over the dinghy to get off and on the boat. But, we got in. Check out the pictures.
We had dinner with Brenda's brother Jerry and his wife Susan at a great restaurant: "Clams over Linguine with Red sauce." It was outstanding; haven't had it this good since moving south.
Here we are with the whole gang including Tim Fowler at Sissy's restaurant at the Marina in Atlantic Highlands. There are three restaurants at the Marina.
Last night, Susan made a great dinner at, her daughter, Danielle's house. Danielle's daughter Autumn loves Lulu and couldn't wait to see her. Lulu was very well behaved, and took very well to Autumn. Lulu was very excited each time she saw her. This is a picture of Lulu sitting in Autumn's car seat in Jerry's truck:
We plan to leave for the Hudson and Liberty Landing or directly on to Croton on the Hudson on Thursday. I won't post again until then.
